Last time we were trying to plan a reunion we ran into two distinct schools of thought. Some people wanted a nice night out, others wanted it to be as cheap as possible.
I want to make both groups happy.
I hope to have dates and details for you by mid-November. We are looking at an evening function with a nice dinner in Indianapolis, followed by a family picnic at Mounds the next day.
How does that sound?

I like your idea of a nice dinner, followed by a picnic the next day. I like the thought of having at least one event planned in Anderson, since that's where we graduated from. It just makes it feel more special to go home for that.

Having something to choose from is great! I liked way back at the 5 when we did the night thing, then had a chance to picnic with kids and such....
Why not stay in Anderson, we lived here, and graduated from here. I hear the Paramount is nice......
The Paramount is nice, although what I remember from a few years ago was that we would be limited as far as the size group we can have. I have a call in to them, so we'll see if it might work.
If anyone has any other suggestions of a nice place for dinner for a group in Anderson, that would be great. But in my calling and visiting I haven't found anything.
Jane, the Hardacre Ballroom in the Paramount can accommodate 400 people seated and 200 people seated with a dance floor. I'm not sure of their rates, but I do know that Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria caters for them. It's a cafeteria located in Greenwood and my younger son works there. My mom's alumni class reunion was held in the ballroom at the Paramount last summer and she said it was so beautiful. Another option would be to hold it at the former Holiday Inn on Scatterfield Road. It is now the Clarion Hotel. They remodeled it two years ago and is really nice inside. That's where we held our last reunion and it seemed to work pretty well. The Clarion offers an area that seats 200 and adjoining rooms can be added. I would be more than happy to help scope out places for you, if you would like.

I forgot to take into account that spouses would be there. Hmmm. Maybe we shouldn't invite spouses? Just kidding. Counting the senior pics from our yearbook totals ~ 326. That more than likely knocks out the Paramount then. I had forgotten how large our class was!

Well, first off I think we need to get an idea on what people are willing to spend. This is our 25th class reunion and I personally don't have a problem spending $60-$75 per person but some people might not want to spend that much.
I think we should look at some local golf clubs that are used to hosting large parties/banquets. Such as Anderson Country Club (Andersonclub.com) or some public courses in Noblesville/northern Indianapolis area.
Second I think we need to get an estimate on realistcally how many people are going to show up. Yes, we had a large class but how many people are willing to show up, a couple hundred? I think in previous reunions we have had a pretty dismal turnout.
I don't live in Indiana anymore but where do people host wedding receptions for large groups and where have other classes hosted their reunions?
